Support for Multiple Languages
Unicode is an international standard for the manipulation of multiple languages.
In order to support more than just English in the Gong system, it has adopted the use of Unicode to input, display and store different languages. In other words the Gong system allows users to input and see languages such as English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, French, Japanese and many more.
On the left-hand side is an example showing traditional chinese writing. There are more images showing different languages in the screen shots page.
With Unicode we can even display more than one language at the same time. For example, we can show Japanese sentences along with their Chinese explanations in the same Gong discussion board.
On the right is an example with different languages shown as message topics. The languages in the image are (from top to bottom): Korean, Spanish, German, Simplified Chinese, Russian, French and Japanese.
You may go to the Unicode Home Page for more information about Unicode.
