Step 4 SELECT THE SOURCE OF RECORDING
  • Select a source from the Recording Control window
  • Sources you may be interested in are:
    • Microphone - select this if you want to record from your microphone
    • CD - select this if you want to record from the CD player of your computer
(sometimes selecting this source would have no effect, if that is the case, select the next one 'Mono Out')
    • Mono Out - select this if you want to record from anything being played on the computer
      • This is very useful in the following cases:
        • You want to record audio from the Internet
        • You want to record audio from the CD player of your computer
        • You want to record audio from an audio file on your computer
      • Although we say it is 'Mono Out' here, the actual description can be 'Wave', 'Wave Out' or any other similar names, as different computers show different things

  • Ideally you should have a recording level which is not too high or not too low, i.e. the color bar should move around the middle
High Recording Level   Middle Recording Level   Low Recording Level
High, Middle and Low Recording Level in Gong
    • The recording level is too high if the bar stays green most of the time
    • The recording level is too low if the bar stays red most of the time
  • If you find the bar does not move at all it could mean that you have selected the wrong source in the Recording Control window. Please select another source in the Recording Control window (step 4 above)
  • If you find that the level is too high or too low please adjust the recording volume in the Recording Control window
  • You may have to try a few times before the optimal recording level can be achieved in Gong

Step 7 STOP AND POST THE RECORDING IN GONG
